This 1978 Rose Royce ballad tells the story of a woman longing for a lost love - it was not a huge hit when it was released in 1973, but it did do pretty good in the UK. In 1989 there was a very successful rap version by UK's Fresh 4, and in 1992 The Cover Girls did a cover of the song that was a huge hit. When it was covered by Jay-Z in 1998, he featured new vocals from Gwen Dicky of Rose Royce on his recording. The song was later covered by Beyonce in 2004, and it has be covered and sampled countless other times.
