Lo Borges is a Brazillian singer/songwriter and guitarist. He was one of the founders of the Brazilian music collective Clube de Esquina, and he co-produced the album of the same name with Milton Nascimento in 1972. His song off that album Aos Baroes was sampled by Bay Area hip-hop group The Bins in 2012 on their track What In The World featuring Bobby Blunt. The track appears on The Bin's album Every Minute Of The Day, which samples over 150 records on it's mere six tracks.

Milton Nascimento is a famous Brazilian singer/songwriter and guitarist. Nascimento had been playing in bands since the early 1960's, after joining with the music collective Clube du Esquina his popularity soared. In 2011 J. Cole sampled Nascimento's 1976 song Francisco for his track God's Gift. The track appeared on Cole World, The Sideline Story - the young producer's debut album as a recording artist. Before releasing that much anticipated album Cole had released three very successful mixtapes.

The Belgium/Australian singer/songwriter Goyte had a worldwide hit in 2011 topping the charts in 31 countries with his single Somebody That I Used To Know. His song sampled the guitar hook and the foundations of Seville, a 1967 song by Luiz Bonfa, a Brazilian guitarist/composer. Bonfa became famous across Brazil in 1947 when he was featured on the popular radio show Radio National. He is well-known for the compositions he wrote in the 1959 film Black Orpheus. The main theme of the film - Manha de Carnaval - is listed in the Guinness Book Of World Records as one of the top 10 standards played worldwide.

Jazzanaova is a German music collective formed of DJ's, producers and musicians. In 2002 they released their debut album In Between featuring the song Another New Day, a song that samples Parque Laje by Egberto Gismonti. The 1970 song from the Brazilian composer and musician comes off his second album Sonho '70. Since then, Gismonti has released dozens of albums in a wide variety of styles. He also has produced a huge amount of film scores and music for theatre and ballet.

DJ and producer Cut Chemist is well known for being a bart of the rap group Jurassic 5, and for being a part of the latin funk band Ozomatli. After leaving Jurassic 5 in 2004 he worked 18 months exclusively on an album he had already been developing for two years. In 2006 he released that album, his solo debut The Audience's Listening. On the song A Peak In Time Cut Chemist samples from a 1969 song by Brazilian singer and songwriter Gilberto Gil.

Ugly Duckling is a hip-hop group from Long Beach, California that formed in 1993. Dizzy Dustin, Young Einstein and Andy Cat adopted the name from the famous children's story because they felt like outcasts in the 1990's hip-hop scene. In 2004, just after releasing their second album Taste The Secret , they released their second EP - The Leftovers EP. Later releases of Taste The Secret include the EP with the album as a "Combo Meal deal." The eight song release features the sample driven track Einstein's Brazilian Travelogue.

United Future Organization is a acid jazz and jazz/funk duo whose presence was strongest in the 1990's. When the group formed in 1990 it included a third member, who later left the group in 2002. The group, also known as UFO, has released a half dozen albums but they are best known from 1994 appearance on the highly acclaimed compilation Stolen Moments: Red Hot & Cool. Their only track on the album is Stolen Moments, a cover of the jazz standard from 1960 that has been recorded by dozen's. On their version, UFO samples from a 1967 song by the very influential short-lived Brazilian quartet Quarteto Novo.

Aquarela Do Brazil is one of the most famous Brazilian songs of all-time. It was written by Ary Barroso in 1939, and it was first performed as part of a musical play that year. In 1939 Francisco Alves recorded the first popular version of the song, but the song did not become famous until after being featured in Walt Disney's animated film Saludos Amigos in 1942. The song is one of the 20 most recorded songs of all-time. In 1997 Dutch eurodance group The Vengaboys sampled Aquarela Do Brazil on their song To Brazil off their debut album.

Brazillian jazz drummer and percussionist Airto Moreira became a professional musician in 1967 at age 13. He married Brazilian jazz singer Flora Purim and moved to the United States where he played with many the biggest names in jazz. He played drums on the first album from Weather Report and on the first two albums by Return To Forever, and he played with Santana. In 1977 he released the album I'm Fine, How Are You? featuring the song Celebration Suite. In 1997 the German dance act Bellini released their worldwide smash hit Samba De Janeiro, which sampled Airto's Celebration Suite.

This Brazilian musician Jorge Ben Jor had his first hit record at the age of eighteen - it was the Brazilian classic Mas Que Nada. In 1976 Ben released one of his must popular albums, Africa Brazil. The album features a re-make of his already recorded song Taj Mahal. The following year in 1977 Rod Stewart released his hit single Do You Think I'm Sexy, a song that takes it's riff from the Taj Mahal remix. The high court ruled that Stewart had plagiarized Ben's song, rather than taking the royalties Ben instructed for the royalties from Stewart's song to be donated to Unicef.
