ENNIO MORRICONE - El Colpo    ><    METHOD MAN - Release Yo Delf (Prodigy Mix)

The song Release Yo Delf appears on Method Man's 1994 debut album Tical. In 1995 the single to that song was released with a Prodigy remix that samples from El Colpo off of Ennio Morricone's soundtrack to For A Few Dollars More. As he was known to do, director Sergio Leone had the music composed before he started shooting the film so he could shoot with Morricone's music playing on set.

In 2006 Danger Mouse and CeeLo formed Gnarls Barkley and released their debut single Crazy. The song won several awards that year including a Grammy. The song is built around a sample that comes from the main theme of the classic 1968 spaghetti western film Django, Preparati Di Bara - or Django, Prepare Your Coffin. This semi-legiminate spin-off starring Terrence Hill was originally meant to star Franco Nero - the original Django.

In 1994 hip-hop artist and producer The Alchemist released 1st Infanthy - his solo debut. The album features a all-star line-up. The track Pimp Squad features P$C - T.I.'s Atlanta hip-hop ensemble, and it samples from the 1980 Italian poliziottesco (crime & action) film starring Franco Nero Il Giomo  Del Cobra - or Day Of The Cobra, Pimp Squad samples a piece called Escape off the Paolo Vasile scored soundtrack.

Michigan born rapper Willie The Kid is the younger cousin of rapper LA the Darkman. The DJ Drama protege has appearard on numerous albums from DJ Drama, Lil Wayne and others. In 2013 he released the song Aquamarine where he sampled from the 1976 Italian comedy film L'anarea All'arancia - or Duck In Orange Sauce. The sampled song Prima O Poi comes off the Armando Trovajoli composed soundtrack.

GOBLIN - Tenebre (Main Title)    ><    JUSTICE - Phantom

1982
French house music duo Justice released their debut album in 2007, the album ended up on many best of lists and was nominated for a Grammy that year. Phantom, the fourth single off the album, sampled from the main title theme to Dario Argento's movie Tenebre. The soundtrack to the movie was composed by the Italian progressive rock band Goblin, which was well known for producing soundtracks - this movie was the last of several projects they did with Argento.

ENNIO MORRICONE - The Ecstacy Of Gold    ><    JAY-Z - Blueprint 2

1966
Rapper Jay-Z released his seventh album in 2002 - Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse. The album's title track samples from the Ennio Morricone composed soundtrack from The Good The Bad And The Ugly. Blueprint 2 samples The Ecstasy Of Gold from the climax of Sergio Leone's 1966 Spaghetti Western classic starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. The same piece was also sampled on about a dozen other songs.

ENNIO MORRICONE - La Resa Dei Conti    ><    187 LOCKDOWN - Gunman

1965
187 Lockdown was a British speed garage duo that released one album in 1998 and a handful of singles. In 1997 they released the single Gunman which samples from reggae star Dr. Alimantado's Gimmie Mi Gun. The song also samples from the soundtrack of the 1965 Spaghetti western A Few Dollars More. The sample comes from La Resa Dei Conti - or Sixty Seconds To What off the Ennio Morricone composed soundtrack.

ENNIO MORRICONE - Plume Di Cristallo    ><    G-UNIT - My Buddy

1970
G-Unit is a hip-hop group composed of 50 Cent, Young Buck and Lloyd Banks. They released their debut album in 2003 featuring the Eminem co-produced song My Buddy. The song samples from the Ennio Morricone soundtrack of Dario Argento's 1970 classic giallo film The Bird With The Crystal Plumage. My Buddy also samples from Morricone's previously mentioned The Ecstasy Of Gold as well as audio clips from the movie Scarface.

ENNIO MORRICONE - Sporco Ma Distinto    ><    JAY-Z - So Ghetto

1983
So Ghetto was the only DJ Premier produced track off of Volume 3 - The Life And Times Of S. Carter -  Jay-Z's fourth album. When DJ Premier produced Jay-Z's 1999 So Ghetto he created his beats with an Ennio Morricone sample off the soundtrack the 1983 movie Le Ruffian. The heavily awarded Italian orchestrator has composed over 500 original film scores for movies amd television.

ENNIO MORRICONE - Uccellacci Uccellini - Titoli Di Testa    ><    EPMD - Symphony 2000

1966
In 1999 EPMD released their sixth album Out Of Business featuring the album's first single Symphony 2000 featuring Method Man, Redman and Lady Luck. The Eric Sermon produced song was  EPMD's last charting single. The song samples from the Ennio Morricone composed soundtrack to a 1966 Italian movie Uccell e Uccellini - or The Hawks And The Sparrows. The films director, Pier Paolo Pasolini has declared this to be his personal favorite film.
