His World is the main theme song for the video game Sonic The Hedgehog. The game was developed by SEGA in response to the popularity of Nintendo's Super Mario. Most of the games score was composed by a team lead by Tomoya Ohtani. His World is a fantasy rap song recorded in 2006 by Ali Tabatabaee and Matty Lewis from the rock band Zebrahead. The video game has been called the worst game of 2006. Nonetheless, in 2017, His World was sampled by Drake on the song KMT.

Lazy Jones is a platform game from 1984 that could be played on early home computer systems such as Commodore 64 and MSX. The sub-game gameplay featured fourteen games that were mostly simplified versions of popular games of the time. The game's chiptune music was composed by David Whittaker, and varied a little depending on the console used. In 1999 one of the music tracks was sampled by German group Zombie Nation for their worldwide mega-hit Kernkraft 400. The sampled track is known as Stardust on the Commodore 64, and The Wall on MSX. The sample was cleared and paid for after-the-fact to avoid a big lawsuit.

Bezerk is a popular 1980 arcade game - it has been considered one of the best video games ever. The game inspired other games, such as Robotron: 2084. In 1982 it was the first video game to be credited with causing a fatal heart attack. The game and it's talking robots were an early use of speech synthesis in video games - which was quite expensive to produce at the time. The computer generated speech was sampled in 1988 in the song Stakker Humanoid by Humanoid. Eternal Champions was one of the early fighting games developed for home video consoles. The game was developed in 1993 by Sega after the massive success of Street Fighter II and Mortal Combat. The game was very influential to Bone Thugs n Harmony album E 1999 Eternal. The Bad Ending theme was sampled by the group, and was the basis for Crossroad. The song was later remixed and released as Tha Crossroads - the remix earned the group a Grammy and it became their most successful song.

In 1995 Bone Thugs n Harmoney released their second album E 1999 Eternal. The album was produced by 2Pac, who died 4 months before the album was released. There are many influences from the 1993 Eternal Champions video game, such as the song Eternal which was built around a sample from the game's Character Bios Theme. What was unique to the Eternal Champions video game is that none of the games nine fighters are "bad" or evil, they are all portrayed as good.

Persona 4 was the fifth installment in the Personal video game series. The role playing game was released in 2008 on Playstation 2. Most of the games soundtrack was composed by video game designer Shoji Meguro. In 2011 a Japanese hit album called Never More was released featuring the games music, including extended versions and remixes. The album was sampled in 2013 by rapper Logic for the title track of his mixtape album Welcome To Forever. The mixtape helped earn Logic a record contract with Def Jam Recordings.

Kirby's Adventure is a 1993 Nintendo video game, and the second video game in the Kirby series. Although the game was short and considered to be somewhat easy, it still is often ranked in the top 100 Nintendo games of all-time. The game's soundtrack was composed by Hirokazu Ando and Jun Ishikawa. In 2009, rapper Wiz Khalifa sampled Grape Garden from the game's soundtrack for the song One Way off his Burn After Rolling mixtape.

In 2010, rapper Wiz Khalifa released the Kush and Orange Juice mixtape. The release features the original version of Never Been. The song samples from Schala's Theme from the 1995 video game Chrono Trigger. Schala's Theme was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. When the game and the game's soundtrack were released, an additional sister acid jazz CD composed by Mitsuda was also released. In 1999, an additional CD of orchestral tracks from "cut scenes" was also released.
