In 1974 Millie Jackson wn two Grammy's for her version of the song, and Barbara Mandrill had a very successful country version in 1978. This illicit song, which has also been covered by Issac Hayes, Rod Stewart and others, was originally recorded by The Emotions - a recording that was never released.
